I grew up in the days of a Light Bright, so this gives those kind of vibes.For those of you wondering what this would be for, it’s basically just a personal billboard with a old style retro aspect to it. Use it as a mood enhancer or an information display (clock, weather, stocks, etc.)I did however find an additional use for the Pixel art display. When I’m working in my home office, I like to know when someone or something is approaching. I get deep into work and when startled, it hits into a stress nerve of mine.So I also have the Govee motion sensor. Combined with the sensor, you can use the Pixel Art Display to show anything you want as an alert on the screen. A still picture or an animated gif. I’m my case, I have 2 sensors, one on the floor that detects the cats and one up higher that detects people. So when a cat hits the motion sensor, I see an animated cartoon cat lick the screen as a gif.This could also be used as a driveway alert showing a car on your screen if you use it as such.So the Pixel Art Display has some potential for more ideas of Govee opens it up to more compatibility with other things.Be aware that 2 sizes to choose from, and each size is a different dimension than the other. What I found in the Govee app gif library is that each size has its own gif database and not every gif you see in the large display library is in the smaller display library. Some are because the authors made both versions in their community profiles.Good luck. This was worth it for me. I got both.

A nice display with a few trade offs.
This is an item that will improve with time. I’ve owned several divoom products (Govee’s competitor) and also several Govee products.The great thing is that it’s BRIGHT. So much brighter than Divoom’s display. The colors just pop on this thing. If you’re familiar with Govee’s app then choosing scenes and getting the display to connect with your phone is a breeze. Even auto-updating works out of the box. I also approve of the quality. I love Divoom, don’t get me wrong, but my biggest complaint with that company is quality control. I’ve had several of their products just die on me. This is built SOLID.The big trade-off, though, is that Divoom has a massive community of creators with numerous designs, so you don’t even have to think about it. Govee’s is growing, but it’s nothing compared to Divoom’s. Images are still limited, and putting them in a playlist is clunky. That being said, they look GOOD. I think this product will grow in time once people submit more gifs and pixel artworks.Also, while not a dealbreaker for me, what were the designers thinking with that stereotypical gamer frame? Ugggh.

Unsure of Purchase until I got it in my hands
Really bought it just to see it in hand, but fell in love with it. Big Screen…vibrant…tons of lil videos to play on it plus the Pac Man scenes. Speaker works great too. Works through the Govee phone app for ease of changing the pics/animations. It is big so make sure you have the room for it.

Does not work as advertised
I was super excited since I have so many Govee products. This is by far the absolute worst. Tried for two hours for it to connect to WiFi and used the lower bandwidth but would not connect at all. Don’t waste your money returning it the same day o got it. What the hell Govee!!?!?

It is awesome if you like gif images and active clocks and weather gifs. The do it yourself aspect can truly use some work. Also it should be extremely easy to add your own custom gifs. Its not exactly. Uploading GIFs to Govee pixel lights can be challenging due to specific formatting requirements and app limitations. To successfully upload your own GIFs, you must ensure the file is properly optimized for Govee’s system. That I would say is its big drawback. So if you do purchase the pixel light, be aware of this. It is why it got the rating it got. Everything else is great. The DiY online community is awesome. So many have made it work out.
